I have an american stafforshire terrier and he is the sweetest dog. How heart breaking for families who will be forced to give up a thier loving dog.

I agree that this is a bad idea. If a dog is bad, it's due to poor training, not its breed.

Breed Specific Legislation is a shame for the modern society. If a breed can be bad by birth what biological resort prevents humans to be bad only because they belong to a human race. BSL is a symbolic nazi law.
